In a previous post, we introduced True Plant HealthTM, explaining the importance of foliar products for your turf. We then broke down the three essential ingredients that your turf cannot live without.
In this post, we break down the importance of understanding plant processes in order to best help finely-mowed turf convert sunlight to proteins at each step in the photosynthetic process.
Take a look at these seven steps below. Today, we’re focusing on step one.
Step 1- Build Chloroplast Cells to Create More Chlorophyll
More Chlorophyll = Darker Green Color = More Captured Sunlight
The darker the color, the more photosynthetic processes can make life-sustaining carbohydrates.
The amount of chlorophyll molecules that the plant can produce is determined by the linear feed of certain nutrients. In addition to nutrients, the plant will produce critical phytohormones in its leaves that determine how many chlorophyll molecules will be made.
Unfortunately, frequent mowing removes these phytohormones that regulate chlorophyll production. When turfgrass starts to lose its color, it is because it does not have the signal-triggering phytohormones to command it to produce chlorophyll.
